This stems from a comment on a post by Doug Johnson about writing and “snippets” where I proposed that instead of bemoaning the “snippetization” of books by new tools like Google Book Search, we could instead revise our methods of constructing academic texts to take advantage of the possilibities presented by the new technologies.
Thus was born the Biblio-Blog, a blog of a book and a book of a blog. So this will be my attempt to create the “growth of an argument through self-contained argument chunks (blog posts) that are developed over time within a larger body of writing (a blog). Maybe what we need is to develop a new style of blogging with short-lived blogs that serve a single purpose to deliver a series of spiraling posts on a single topic.” I hope that this can also be extended to include multiple authors and community input.
Let’s see what happens…
